Knight CDL Academy
Our CDL program is located in Phoenix, AZ and is open to residents across the United States. We also have a wide range of CDL School Partners across the country to provide the best over-the-road (OTR) training in the industry.
At Knight, we provide expert driver training to help our drivers develop a long-lasting career. As a student, you are paired with a trainer who is committed to your success. At Knight, not just anyone can be a trainer – they are hand-selected, with vast industry knowledge and expertise to provide the best training possible to prepare you for the road ahead.
Before attending our CDL school, be prepared for previous employment verifications, background checks (criminal and driving record), and drug screens.

Prepare to Get Your Class A CDL Permit
Study up before your CDL exam with these resources! The CDL test is a written exam taken at the DMV, applicants take the General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination test portions.
The DMV requires proof that the applicant is medically qualified. Before they will allow you to test, you must obtain a DOT Physical from any doctor (residents of Idaho are not required to have physical)

Get StartedPass Permit Test
A recruiter will guide you through the process of studying for the permit test and answer any questions you may have about Knight's CDL school. The DMV will require that you are medically qualified and have obtained a DOT Physical from any doctor (residents of Iowa are not required to have a physical if operating in excepted interstate commerce).
Free Practice TestCDL School
At the Academy, you will learn the ins-and-outs of truck driving with Knight Transportation.
Between 2 and 4 weeks long. No loan payments are due while enrolled in CDL School.
Graduate CDL School & Get Hired
Students are hired after they graduate the CDL training program and obtain their CDL A. They must also attend Knight's Driver Qualification Process (DQP), and pass a physical and drug test before being hired.
This process may take up to one week.
Hit the Road
After graduating CDL school, you will go over the road with a Knight Trainer and get real-world experience.
Up to 6 weeks long.
Get Your Own Truck
After graduating CDL school and completing your OTR miles with a trainer, you will begin driving solo.
Up to 6 weeks long. $35 per week loan payment.
30k Miles
15 weeks long. $35 per week loan payment.
60k Miles
Once you drive a total of 60k solo miles, your loan payments will increase to speed up paying off your schooling. You are eligible for tuition reimbursement once your loan is paid off.
15 weeks long. $60 per week loan payment.
Become a Trainer!
90k miles Once you complete 90k miles, you are eligible to become a trainer or continue driving solo while OTR.
